A slight overpay but thats the NHL these days. With Spezza gone, I think that deal HAD to be made. Good signing!

Or trade Karlsson to us... He'd look great with Giordano

he's a good skater so I;m not worried about his age - reminds me of Cory Stillman. Would like to see Mac in a playoff series, seems his kind of shiftiness will go a long way like Briere, but his size might become and issue come playoff time

Really? I find at 6' 200lbs is a good size even for playoffs hockey...

Very good deal!! Now to sign Ryan!!!
Something like 56-60M for 8 years OR 45-48 for 6 years... whatever works!

I agree, good siqning.. Disagree with the ''slight overpayment''

C Mac finished 61st overall in league pts last season. close totals with guys like Parise, Nuggent-Hopkins, Weber ect... he's worth it, & would fetch that $$$ & term on the open UFA market, if not more.

Again Mac + Turris together after this season for three more .... $8.15M cap hit!!! Kessel is that much alone

Based on points last season its spot on. I had hoped he'd come here but alas... but again we will gladly take Karlsson off your hands if nothing more than to alleviate the stress of trying to find someone to play with him...

Kessel is a better player than either of those two, and I'd rather him on my team than both of them. That being said you guys will get great value from Turris on his contract, and good value on MacArthur's.

Well maybe Calgary would be willing to part with Giordano, being in a rebuild phase & all.. He'd look good along side Karlsson

I've seen him right in front of me without the equipment on and he's a big enough guy! Not worried at all for playoffs play...it's part of his game anyways to go in the corners and to hit so his physicality is not an issue!

Well Kessel is better than either Turris, or MacAthur, but I doubt a non-Leaf fan would say that it is better to have Kessel instead of a Turris/MacArthur combo...

by the way I think a Bosak/Kessel combo is very comparable to the Turris/MacArthur combo. Both teams are well set up.

I think it would be much harder to acquire a player of Kessels talent then to aquire players like Turris and MacArthur

Tossing aside he is absolutely not for sale, for EK you would have to start with Monahan and next years 1st and likely have to add another blue chip prospect or two, honestly i am not entirely sure Calgary has the current assets for Ottawa to even consider moving him there. He is extremely highly valued in the nation's capital.

Fantastic comparison, Stillman was a bit more of a point producer, but very similar styles.

He's 6'0" 190lbs, which is completely average for the NHL.

Don't know where people get the small impression from.

What? Kessel > Turris/MacArthur. I bet every GM in the league would take #81. Mac is a journeyman. Turris a underachiever who's starting to get better.

He's just not a tradeable player. You don't trade franchise guys.

When is the last time a young player who is top 5 at his position was moved? Never.

Turris will be known as a bonafide 1C next season, putting upwards 60-70 points. If he somehow struggles, we got Zibanejad who looks superb.
